Oxalis Commonly goes by the name of Love Plant or Purple Shamrock. The three lobed purple leaves resembling a butterfly are a visual treat. The intriguing purple foliage close like an umbrella during night or when disturbed; the closed leaves look like a bunch of resting butterflies.. The unusual closing of leaves will also indicate that the plant is not happy where it is placed. Oxalis also give white to Pink flowers from spring to summer, which also close at night. The Oxalis bulbs are easy to propagate and are passed down generations. The color and movement of leaves is a treat to watch and the purple foliage also bring out the vibrant green of your other houseplants / indoor Plants.

Detailed Care Guide
Light: Bright indirect light.
Water: Water once a week in bright light and once in two weeks in relatively low light.
Pet-friendly: Not pet friendly.
Humidity: Normal household humidity is fine.
Temperature: The plant grows well in average room temperatures. 60℉-75℉ is ideal.
Fertilizer: Feed twice in the growing season. Use a slow-release or balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer.
Repotting: Repot the plant when it is established or there's no space for more growth. When repotting you can divide the bulbs and place them in two different small pots. If you want a bushy plant then don't divide and repot the whole plant into a slightly larger pot. General houseplant mix should be fine as long as it has good drainage.
Common Problems
Drooping Leaves: The plant may start drooping if it is under watered or is not receiving enough light. This plant also droops its leaves when it has entered dormancy which is typically at the end of its growing season. This is not the death of the plant even if it loses all of its leaves. Put the plant aside and hold back on watering till you see a new foliage.
Yellow Leaves:If the lower leaves of the plant are turning yellow and are overly soft then you are giving your plant too much water. Hold back on watering for a few days. Let the top 25% of the soil dry out before watering. If it keeps on happening then it can lead to root rot. Root rot is fixed by repotting your plant in fresh soil and cutting off any dead and smudged roots during the process.
Brown leaves: Don't worry if you notice brown leaves on your purple shamrock. If the leaves are starting to get brown the plant is entering dormancy typically during summer. During this time the plant recharges its energy for the next growth period.
